Can You Carry Over Your FM26 Save (and Its Regens) to FM27?

Short answer: Yes. Sports Interactive says FM27 will show an option on the start screen to carry over save progress from the previous two Football Manager titles. To make it work, the save has to be on the PC you're playing on, or in your platform account's cloud save storage.

What SI has confirmed

In its FM27 Launch Preview FAQ on Steam (21 October 2026), SI answered the question "Can my save files from FM24 or FM26 be carried over to FM27?" directly:

  • Yes, carry-over is supported. FM27 displays an option on the start screen to carry over save progress.
  • It covers the previous two titles. SI's own wording names FM24 and FM26.
  • The save must be available. It needs to be on the relevant PC, or in your platform's cloud saves.

What this means for your regens

If your FM26 career is full of regens you've scouted and developed, carrying the save over is the way to keep that story going in FM27. SI hasn't yet detailed exactly what transfers across (for example, whether every player, attribute and potential comes over unchanged), so treat the specifics as TBC until the game is out. Before you carry over: a quick checklist

  1. Make sure the save is where FM27 can find it: on the same PC, or synced to your platform's cloud saves.
  2. Keep a backup copy of your FM26 save before you try it, just in case.
  3. Check which platforms it works on. SI's answer appears in a PC Launch Preview FAQ. Console and mobile (Netflix) carry-over is TBC.

Starting fresh in the Launch Preview instead?
